On Wednesday the 20th of November, Homeless Connect will be running training looking at the principles and underpinning values of restorative practices. This session will be facilitated by Glenn Millar, Training Manager at Alternatives NI.

This training introduces participants to restorative approaches through an interactive and experiential pedagogy. It focuses on key restorative concepts such as empathy, accountability, and conflict resolution, while engaging participants in practical exercises like restorative circles and scenario-based learning. By the end of the training, participants will be equipped with basic skills and strategies to implement restorative practices in their workplace and help foster a positive and inclusive environment.
This training will be facilitated by Glenn Millar, Training Manger at Alternatives NI. Glenn Millar is a Canadian born, Belfast bred musician, author and community worker. Glenn has a long history of involvement in community relations work during his tenure as a youth worker with City of Belfast YMCA and the NI Education Authority. Glenn pioneered an innovative primary school cross community contact programme that was deemed a model of effective practice and a benchmark for work of this nature.
Glenn also has an extensive career facilitating training, firstly training youth workers and volunteers with Youth Link Ni, then spending 9 years being the lead trainer for Apple in Ireland. Glenn returned to his community roots as the Senior Youth Worker for MENCAP before becoming the Training Co-ordinator for NI Alternatives, where he has put his extensive training experience to use in developing a restorative pedagogy that underpins all the training delivered by the organisation. Glenn is also an associate lecturer at Ulster University, delivering self-written CPD modules on Restorative Justice that are also approved by the Restorative Justice Council UK.
