On Friday the 11th of October, Homeless Connect will be running a training day exploring personal narratives and motivation. Looking at how we can help change or reframe narratives to promote change and wellbeing. This session will be facilitated by Dr Ray Middleton from Ladder4Life.
NICVA, 61 Duncairn Gardens Belfast, BT15 2GB
09:30 – 1630
In this interactive one day training course, Dr Ray Middleton helps us to understand the importance of the stories that we believe about ourselves and how we can help other people (and ourselves) to change negative problem saturated stories into more hopeful one’s by using a number of practical techniques and good questions to help people pivot away from narratives that are holding them back from living to their full potential.
Participants get free access to 2 smartphone apps to help embed and remember the key learning points, as well as visual reminders on a postcard to take away with them. Find out more about this training HERE.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided on the day.
Dr Ray Middleton will be facilitating this days training. Dr Middleton has worked in the sector for over 30 years managing a variety of services for people facing multiple disadvantages with combinations of unmet needs around homelessness, addiction, mental health and complex trauma histories. He has a number of different training days combined into a workforce development programme that has been independently evaluated by the University of Lincoln. He also has lived experience of overcoming the kind of problems associated with experiencing trauma, such as addiction and mental health problems, which has motivated him to work in this area for 3 decades. He is keen to share what he has learnt with others to improve outcomes for people facing multiple disadvantages. Ray has also recently written a chapter on Workforce Development for “Pre-treatment Across Multiple Fields of Practice: Trauma Informed Approach to Homelessness and Beyond” by Jay Levy MSW, due to be published in November 2024.
