Job purpose

The Food Re-distribution Driver will supervise collections and deliveries of surplus food to support FareShare NI.

Duties and responsibilities include:
• Drive a FareShare food re-distribution van to various collection and delivery points throughout Northern Ireland.
• Comply with security and safety of the vehicle on site, on the road and in the FareShare warehouse.
• Be responsible for daily vehicle checks, ensuring the vehicle is mechanically operational and roadworthy.
• Supervise volunteers and manage loading, collection and delivery of donated food to social supermarket pilot partners.
• Complete relevant documentation.
• Be responsible for cleanliness of vehicle.
• Liaise with the public in a professional and helpful manner, ensuring queries or complaints are resolved promptly whilst promoting organisational core values.
• Comply fully with Health and Safety guidelines, ensuring safe working practices.

General requirements
• Carryout duties in line with the organisation’s policy on equality and diversity.
• Contribute to a positive, supportive, and effective team working environment.
• Undertake any other relevant duties as identified by the Deputy Depot Manager.
• The duties of the post will be subject to review in accordance with the needs of the organisation.

Person Specification

Essential
• At least 6 months experience driving a van.
• Full clean driving licence for at least 1 year.
• Team player able to motivate and develop people.
• Problem solver and competent decision maker.
• Good communication skills both written and verbal.

Desirable
• Experience of food preparation and storage.
• Experience of taking responsibility for health and safety issues within a food distribution and/or warehousing operation.
• Level II food hygiene qualification
