What does FareShare NI do?

At Fareshare, we re-distribute surplus food to over 150 charities throughout Northern Ireland. From April 2022 – March 2023, we took almost 670 tonnes of food that was heading for landfill, and delivered it to our Community Food Members (CFMs), this equated to 1.59 million meals.

Where does the food come from?

We receive food donations from supermarkets, local suppliers and food producers. We also set up food collections in selected Tesco stores throughout NI. When these trollies are full, they are collected by our drivers, sorted at our warehouse and distributed back through our CFMs. Finally, some companies carry out a food drive on our behalf, we pick this up and distribute it back out into the community.

How can you help?

There are a number of ways in which you can help Fareshare NI.

1) Donations – if you are a food producer or supplier and want to help others whilst also reducing the amount of food you send to landfill, we can take it from you and redistribute it to those who need it most.
2) Fundraising – if you are looking for a charity to donate to as part of your fundraising efforts, please consider us and help us to put food in bellies, not bins.
3) Volunteering – We have an amazing team of volunteers at our warehouse. If you have some free time, would like to learn new skills and meet new people, get in touch and we will tell you how to go about it!

How can we help you?

Last year, we helped to reach over 26,000 people who were in need of support, this equated to 1.59 million meals made up of meat and fish, fresh fruit and veg, dairy products and tinned items.
