Following our ‘Compassionate Conversation’ workshops, the NI Frontline Network received several requests for a further workshop on Advance Care Planning. So we have teamed up with the folks at Compassionate Communities to run workshops focused on this area. We are running the first one in Derry/Londonderry in November while planning to run a further workshop in the New Year in Belfast.
The Advance Care Planning workshop provides an introduction to the Advance Care Planning Policy for Northern Ireland. It provides practical guidance on how to ensure care preferences are known in the event that a person loses their capacity to communicate for themselves.
With clinical input from Foyle Hospice expertise, this session will help support professionals to hold members of their community in a sacred place that enables tender conversations about advanced illness and end of life care.
The Advance Care Planning workshop has been designed with 3 underpinning principles:
This workshop is for any frontline worker in the homelessness sector working with or who may work with individuals approaching the end of life.
The workshop is being held between 13:00-15:00 on Monday 20 November 2023 at Foyle Hospice. The workshop is free to attend. Spaces are limited, so make sure to book your place early to avoid disappointment! You can do so by emailing admin@homelessconnect.org.
