What is Homelessness Awareness Week?
Homelessness Awareness Week (HAW) is a week of social, educational and awareness raising events which aims to raise awareness of the reality of homelessness in Northern Ireland. Held annually, it seeks to challenge stereotypes around homelessness and highlight the invaluable work of the homelessness sector here.
HAW is a truly grassroots initiative, with different organisations devising and delivering their own events to raise awareness of homelessness.
When is it?
HAW 2023 is taking place between Monday 4 to Sunday 10 December. A wide range of events are being held right across NI. The theme of HAW 2023 is ‘Turning the Tide’. With the numbers with homelessness status continuing to rise month on month, we want this society to think about how we can turn the tide. The social media hashtags are #HAW23 and #TurnTheTide.
What is planned for HAW 2023?
You can download the full programme for HAW here and you can find out more about each of the individual events on our events page.
