Homelessness Awareness Week (HAW) is a week of social, educational and awareness raising events which aims to raise awareness of the reality of homelessness in Northern Ireland. Held annually, it seeks to challenge stereotypes around homelessness and highlight the invaluable work of the homelessness sector here.
HAW is a truly grassroots initiative, with different organisations devising and delivering their own events to raise awareness of homelessness.
HAW22 is taking place between Monday 5 to Sunday 11 December. A wide range of events are being planned right across NI, from Enniskillen to Coleraine, Omagh to Belfast. The theme of HAW22 is ‘Have the Conversation’. We want to see people right across NI talk to people they know about the reality of homelessness and how we can work together to prevent it. The social media hashtags are #HAW22 and #HaveTheConvo.
In the midst of a cost of living crisis, with more and more households on the edge of tipping in to homelessness, this is a conversation this society needs to have.
